How long will it take for the kit to arrive once I place my order?

The kit ships from our shop in Portland, OR and typically arrives 2-4 weeks from when the order is placed. Tracking information will be sent by email at the time of shipment. The driver will contact you 24 hours prior to arrival to coordinate a delivery window.

How is the greenhouse delivered?

Your greenhouse kit will arrive via a cargo van with driver-assisted unload. At least one person must be present to accept the delivery and move the greenhouse kit to the storage location. Some packages of glass will weigh up to 40 pounds and can be most easily moved using a hand truck. Delivery locations with limited access may incur additional shipping costs collected after purchase. If you refuse delivery of your order, you will be assessed a 25% restocking fee plus return and initial shipping charges. In the unlikely event that the delivery is damaged, we will work quickly to send replacement parts.

Who assembles my greenhouse kit?

o expedite assembly, we preassemble the walls, roof, door, and base wall. However, certain steps, such as glass installation, require the expertise of a contractor or homeowner with building experience. On average, assembly by two people takes two to three days, excluding foundation preparation. Each order includes a printed and digital installation manual detailing all assembly steps. Additionally, our staff is available Monday through Friday to address construction questions by phone. For more information on the assembly process, please see our Trillium Assembly Video.

Do I need to paint or stain my greenhouse?

The redwood framing and base wall arrive unfinished and require a coat of oil-based stain or paint prior to installation. We strongly recommend staining with a clear, exterior semi-transparent, semi-solid or solid oil-based stain. SuperDeck, Penofin Red Label, and Cabots, are all good exterior oil-based wood stains. If painting with acrylic paint, be sure to apply two coats of good oil-based primer coat first – brushed and rolled, not sprayed.

What tools will I need?

While we will provide all the materials you will need to build the greenhouse, here is the list of tools will be required for assembly:

• Hand Saw

• Adjustable Wrench

• Drill bits for pre-drilling

• Caulking Gun

• Hammer

• Level - Preferably 3' long

• #8 Countersink Drill Bit

• Stepladders

• Tape Measure

 • Sawhorses

 • Pliers

 • Variable speed drill with Phillips #2 head and #1 square head bit

• Screwdriver

• Clamps

• Tweezers

Is electricity and water necessary for my greenhouse?

Both are recommended but not required. Adding 110V GFCI electrical receptacles inside your greenhouse allows you to power heaters, heat mats, grow lights, and fans.

A hose spigot inside your greenhouse simplifies plant watering, pot cleaning, etc.  We recommend installing spigots in front of a bench, not behind for easy access.

Are permits or permission from a homeowners’ association required?

Local building codes and code interpretations vary greatly between counties or townships. Compliance is the responsibility of the buyer.  Determine whether you need a permit or approval from your HOA before purchasing. If you choose to obtain a permit, get it before placing a greenhouse order in case there are changes needed to comply with codes. We will do our best to help you through this process.
